How to Install the WISTA Cylinder Door Lock 20253
Tools you need: tape measure, pencil, drill, 22–25 mm flat or auger bit, chisel, mallet, screwdriver, and a hole saw or bit for the cylinder and spindle holes.
- Mark the height. Mark the handle height on the door edge, usually 900–1050 mm from the floor. Use the template in the box or the lock body itself to mark the case outline on the door edge.
- Cut the mortise pocket. Drill a row of holes along the centre of the door edge to the depth of the lock body, then clean the pocket square with a chisel so the case slides in fully.
- Recess the faceplate. Place the lock body in, trace the faceplate, and chisel a shallow recess so the faceplate sits flush with the door edge.
- Drill the spindle and cylinder holes. Mark the spindle and cylinder centres from the lock body onto both door faces. Drill from each side halfway to avoid splitting the timber.
- Fit the lock body. Slide the mortise case in and screw the faceplate to the door edge.
- Insert the cylinder. Push the key cylinder through the lock body and tighten the cylinder fixing screw through the faceplate. Test the key turns the deadbolt freely.
- Mount the handles. Insert the spindle, fit both lever handles with backplates, and tighten the through-bolts evenly. Check that the levers spring back to level.
- Fit the strike plate. Close the door, mark where the latch and deadbolt meet the frame, cut the pockets, and screw on the strike plate.
- Test everything. Check the latch catches cleanly, the deadbolt throws fully, and the key works from the outside with the door closed.

Daily use
- Push the lever down to open. The latch holds the door closed without locking.
- Turn the key to throw the deadbolt when leaving or at night.
- Always lock with the door fully shut so the bolt enters the strike plate, not the frame.
