300 ml Cartridge Fast Curing Zero Expansion Stress Waterproof & Gap-Filling Vibration Resistant

What Is a Chemical Anchor?

Resin bonding instead of expansion pressure

A chemical anchor is a resin-based fixing system that replaces mechanical expansion bolts. Instead of relying on friction and expansion pressure, the Akfix C900 polyester chemical anchor flows into the drilled hole, keys into the pores of the substrate, and chemically bonds to the steel element. The result is a stress-free, gap-filling, vibration-resistant fixing that can be installed close to slab edges and between closely spaced holes where a wedge anchor would crack the concrete.

No measuring. No mess. No waste.

The C900 is a styrene-free unsaturated polyester system. The two components — resin and hardener — are stored separately inside the coaxial cartridge and only mix as they pass through the static nozzle, so there is no measuring, no mess and no wasted product.

Corrosion protectionEncapsulates the anchor rod and isolates it from moisture and alkalinity.

Where to Use Akfix C900 Chemical Anchor

Structural & Civil Applications

  • Rebar (starter bar) doweling into existing concrete for column, beam and slab extensions
  • Anchoring threaded rods, anchor bolts and studs into concrete
  • Steel base plates, columns, purlins and structural connections
  • Machine and generator base fixing, plant and equipment mounting

Building, Fit-Out & General Applications

  • Balcony and staircase balustrades, handrails and guardrails
  • Gate posts, awnings, canopies, carport frames and steel doors
  • Cantilever brackets, shelving, shop-fit systems and racking
  • Façade and cladding sub-frames, curtain wall brackets
  • Sanitary fittings, water tank stands, solar panel mounting brackets
  • Fencing posts, road signage, safety barriers and bollards
  • Scaffolding tie-ins and temporary works anchoring

How to Use Akfix C900 – Step by Step

Drill the hole Drill to the diameter and depth specified for your anchor size using a rotary hammer drill. Keep the hole perpendicular to the surface. For rebar doweling, use a diamond core only if the hole is subsequently roughened.
Clean the hole thoroughly — the most important step Blow out the dust with a hand pump or compressed air from the base of the hole outwards (4 times), brush with a steel/nylon hole brush of the correct diameter (4 times), then blow again (4 times). Dust is the number one cause of anchor failure — a dirty hole can lose more than half its pull-out strength.
Prepare the cartridge Condition the cartridge to at least +5 °C. Remove the cap, screw on the static mixing nozzle firmly, and load into a standard chemical anchor applicator gun (a heavy-duty skeleton or dedicated coaxial gun).
Prime the nozzle Squeeze out and discard the first 8–10 cm of resin until the extruded material is a uniform, consistent grey colour. Unmixed or streaky resin will not cure.
Inject the resin Insert the nozzle (or extension tube for deep holes) to the bottom of the hole. Inject while slowly withdrawing, filling the hole approximately two-thirds full to avoid trapped air pockets. For overhead or deep holes use an extension tube and a hole plug.
Insert the anchor Within the working (gel) time, push the clean, oil-free, dry threaded rod or rebar into the hole with a slow twisting motion until it reaches the base. Resin should just extrude around the collar — this confirms full encapsulation. Wipe off excess immediately.
Do not disturb Leave the anchor completely undisturbed for the full curing time. Do not tap, load or adjust the anchor during curing.
Load and finish After full cure, fit the fixture and tighten the nut to the specified torque — never over-torque. Clean uncured resin from tools with acetone or a suitable solvent; cured resin must be removed mechanically. Leave the used nozzle on the cartridge to seal it, and fit a fresh nozzle for the next use.

Pro Tips for Kenyan Site Conditions

  • In hot, direct sun, keep cartridges in the shade or a cool box — heat drastically cuts working time.
  • Holes must be dry. If the hole is damp, blow it out and allow it to dry, or specify a resin rated for damp holes.
  • In hollow blocks, always use the perforated sleeve so the resin keys into the webs rather than escaping into the voids.
  • Keep a spare gun, spare nozzles and a hole-cleaning brush set on site — all available at Shabbiri Hardware.

Safety, Storage & Handling

  • Wear nitrile gloves and safety glasses; the uncured resin can irritate skin and eyes.
  • Work in a well-ventilated area; avoid inhaling vapours during large-scale injection.
  • On skin contact, wipe with a dry cloth and wash with soap and water. On eye contact, rinse with plenty of water for 15 minutes and seek medical attention.
  • Keep out of reach of children. Do not eat, drink or smoke while handling.
  • Store unopened cartridges upright between +5 °C and +25 °C in a dry, shaded place. Do not freeze.
  • Dispose of empty cartridges and used nozzles in accordance with local regulations. Refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the price of Akfix C900 chemical anchor 300ml in Kenya?
Prices vary with quantity and current stock. Call or WhatsApp Shabbiri Hardware on 0741 042484 or 0745 554008 for today's best price, or email info@shabbirihardware.co.ke for a formal quotation. Contractor and bulk rates are available.
How long does the Akfix C900 chemical anchor take to cure?
At around 20 °C it gels in about 4 minutes and is ready to load after roughly 45 minutes. At 30 °C — typical for many Kenyan sites — gel time drops to about 2 minutes and loading time to around 25 minutes.
Can I use C900 chemical anchor in hollow blocks?
Yes, but you must use a perforated plastic sleeve so the resin forms a mechanical key inside the block's webs instead of flowing into the voids.
Is a special gun required?
Yes — a chemical anchor applicator gun sized for a 300 ml coaxial cartridge. A standard heavy-duty caulking gun with the correct plunger will also work. We stock the guns and spare nozzles.
Chemical anchor vs expansion bolt — which is better?
A chemical anchor applies no expansion pressure, so it can be installed near concrete edges and in closely spaced groups, seals against water, and generally develops higher pull-out capacity in sound concrete. An expansion bolt is faster and needs no cure time, but risks cracking thin or edge concrete.
Can I re-use a cartridge after opening?
Yes. Leave the used nozzle in place to seal the cartridge, store it as directed, and fit a new nozzle for the next application.
Do you deliver outside Rongai?
Yes — we deliver across Nairobi and countrywide. Contact us with your location for delivery timelines and charges.
Is the resin waterproof once cured?
Yes. Once fully cured the resin is waterproof and seals the annular gap, protecting the embedded steel from corrosion.
