EN 204 Class D3
Certified water-resistant bond — built for humidity, condensation and sheltered exterior joinery.
Professional, ready-to-use, water-based wood adhesive — certified Durability Class D3 to DIN EN 204. The fast grab and water-resistant glue line that Kenyan furniture workshops, joinery shops and construction carpenters rely on.
Akfix D3 PVAc White Glue 30Kg is a professional, ready-to-use wood adhesive built on a polyvinyl acetate (PVAc) homopolymer emulsion and certified to Durability Class D3 under DIN EN 204. Straight from the pail, it delivers the fast grab and the water-resistant glue line that Kenyan furniture workshops, joinery shops and construction carpenters need — with no mixing, no hardener and no solvent smell.
This is the 30 kg bulk bucket (Akfix stock code AP330) — the size that keeps a production workshop running. Buying in bulk cuts the cost per kilogram sharply against 500 g and 1 kg bottles, and it means your team stops losing half a day chasing glue mid-job.
Certified water-resistant bond — built for humidity, condensation and sheltered exterior joinery.
Low odour and safe for enclosed workshops — no aggressive solvent fumes on the bench.
Straight from the pail — no mixing, no hardener, no catalyst, no waiting.
Excellent grab on hardwood and softwood, plus MDF, chipboard, plywood and blockboard.
Around 30 minutes at 20 °C — down to just 4 minutes in a hot press.
Near-colourless finish that won't blunt your cutters or blotch stain and varnish.
Bonds laminates, veneers, paper, card and PVC cloth onto wood and board.
Runs through a mechanical spreader, hand roller, brush or air-activated glue gun.
Bulk AP330 bucket covers approximately 230–430 m² — the lowest cost per kilogram.
Wipe tools, hands and squeeze-out with plain water while the adhesive is still wet.

Wood moisture content must be 8–12 %. Too wet and the joint never reaches full strength; bone-dry timber over-absorbs the adhesive and starves the glue line. Surfaces must be clean, dust-free, oil-free, wax-free and freshly machined — timber that was planed days ago and left standing bonds measurably weaker.
Mating faces must fit closely: D3 is an adhesive, not a gap filler.A 30 kg pail settles during storage. Stir with a paddle mixer or a clean stick until completely uniform before every session.
Do not add water — dilution drops the 54 % solids content and destroys the D3 water-resistance rating you paid for. Do not mix with other adhesives.Adhesive, timber and workshop must all be above +5 °C, ideally 15–25 °C. Applying to cold material produces a chalky, powdery, weak glue line that will fail later.
Lay an even film with a mechanical glue spreader, hand roller, brush or air-activated glue gun. Target 70–130 g/m²:
One-sided application is enough for close-fitting joints. Coat both faces for porous boards, large panels, or when assembly will be slow. Assemble before the film skins over — film formation starts from about 10 minutes at 20 °C, and much faster in hot, dry or windy conditions.
Squeeze-out along the joint is the sign you applied enough.Bring the parts together and apply pressure immediately. Use 9–12 kg/cm² glue-line pressure on hardwoods. Pressure must be even across the whole joint — use enough clamps, cauls or a proper press platen.
Hold under pressure for the full press time — 30 minutes at 20 °C for wood-to-wood, less in a heated press. Extend it in cold weather or with dense hardwoods.
Uneven pressure leaves alternating starved and squeezed-out zones — the single most common cause of joint failure.Wipe squeeze-out immediately with a damp cloth. Once cured, it must be removed mechanically with a scraper or chisel. Wash spreaders, rollers, brushes and the glue gun with water before the adhesive sets — dried PVAc destroys equipment.
Never sand wet glue: it smears into the grain and shows up as pale patches under stain and varnish. After the press time the assembly can be handled, but do not machine, sand, load or stress the joint for at least 24 hours.
Full water resistance develops after 7 days — keep the piece away from water within that window.Reseal the pail tightly. Store between +5 °C and +25 °C, out of direct sunlight, off the floor and on a pallet. Rotate stock — oldest first — and observe the 12-month shelf life from production date.
Protect from freezing — a frozen emulsion is permanently ruined. It is water-resistant, classified D3 to EN 204 — rated for interior use with frequent short-term exposure to running or condensed water and high humidity, and for sheltered exterior joinery such as window frames and external doors. Full water resistance develops 7 days after bonding. For permanently immersed or fully weather-exposed structural timber, a D4 adhesive is the correct specification.
Press time is roughly 30 minutes at 20 °C for wood-to-wood joints, or as little as 4 minutes at 80 °C in a hot press. Leave the joint unstressed for 24 hours before machining or loading, and allow 7 days for full water resistance.
D2 — interior, dry conditions only. D3 — water-resistant; interior with frequent short-term moisture, plus sheltered exterior use. D4 — highest resistance, for timber exposed to weather or frequent water. D3 is the right, cost-effective choice for the vast majority of Kenyan furniture, cabinetry, door and joinery work.
At the specified 70–130 g/m², a 30 kg pail covers approximately 230–430 m² of glue line — around 300 m² at a typical 100 g/m².
Yes. It bonds MDF, chipboard, blockboard, plywood, hardboard, softboard and synthetic resin board, plus laminates, veneers, paper, cardboard and textile-backed PVC cloth to wood. Use the higher spread rate on porous board edges.
No. Adding water is not recommended — it lowers the 54 % solids content and compromises the D3 water-resistance classification. Use it exactly as supplied, after thorough stirring.
Yes — it is water-based and solvent-free, so it is low-odour and suitable for enclosed workshops with normal ventilation. Wash skin contact off with water, avoid eye contact, and keep it out of reach of children.
12 months from the production date when unopened and stored between +5 °C and +25 °C. Keep it sealed, shaded, off the floor and away from frost.
Yes — Akfix D3 is also available in 150 g, 500 g, 1 kg, 3 kg and 10 kg packs. The 30 kg pail gives the lowest cost per kilogram and is what most workshops buy.
