A two-component, solvent-free, fast-curing structural adhesive that delivers an exceptionally strong, permanent bond on almost any rigid material — metal, wood, glass, ceramic, marble and rigid plastics.
Quick Setting Epoxy · 25 ml Twin Syringe · Code EA012
Akfix E340 Quick Setting Epoxy is a two-component, solvent-free, fast-curing structural adhesive that delivers an exceptionally strong, permanent bond on almost any rigid material. Supplied in a convenient 25 ml twin-barrel syringe, it dispenses resin and hardener in a perfect 1:1 ratio every single time — no measuring, no guesswork, no waste.
With a working time of roughly 5 minutes and handling strength in about 20–30 minutes, the E340 is built for repairs that cannot wait. It bonds metal to metal, wood to wood, glass to ceramic, marble to stone and rigid plastics to almost anything, curing to a hard, water-resistant, chemical-resistant joint that can be sanded, drilled, machined and painted over.
Whether you are repairing a cracked engine bracket, refixing a marble worktop, rebuilding a broken furniture joint, sealing an electrical component or fixing a snapped ceramic ornament, the Akfix E340 quick setting epoxy is the adhesive that turns a write-off into a repair.
Shabbiri Hardware stocks genuine Akfix adhesives at both our Magadi Road, Ongata Rongai and Tuala (past Nazarene University) branches.
Usable working time before gel; joints reach handling strength fast, so you are not tied up clamping for hours.
Forms a genuinely structural bond, not just a surface stick — engineered to carry real load.
Resin and hardener dispense in exact proportion, eliminating the weak, tacky joints caused by bad mixing.
Dimensional stability is retained through cure, so precision parts stay in perfect alignment.
Bridges uneven, chipped or poorly-mating surfaces where thin cyanoacrylate (super glue) simply fails.
Resists water, alkalis and dilute acid solutions once fully cured — indoors or out.
Wide service temperature range suits engine bays, outdoor fittings and hot-water areas.
Low odour with no shrink-back from solvent flash-off — safer in enclosed workshops.
Sand it, file it, drill it, tap it, prime it and paint it once fully cured.
Safe for potting, sealing and insulating electrical components and terminal boxes.
Buy it before you need it and keep it in the toolbox — it will be ready when you are.
Factory-sealed product supplied direct from authorised distribution — never repackaged.
Figures apply at 23 °C and 50% relative humidity and may vary with temperature, humidity, mix volume and substrate.

Follow all ten steps for maximum bond strength. Skipping surface preparation is the number one cause of epoxy failure.
Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of dust, oil, grease, rust, wax and loose paint. Wipe with acetone, thinner, methylated spirit or a degreaser and allow to flash off completely. Contamination is the single biggest cause of epoxy joint failure.
Abrade smooth, glossy or non-porous surfaces — steel, glass, glazed ceramic, tile, plastic — with 80–120 grit sandpaper or emery cloth. A keyed surface can more than double the achievable bond strength. Dust off after sanding.
Assemble the parts without adhesive to confirm alignment and to prepare clamps, tape, wedges or supports in advance. Once mixed, you have about 5 minutes — there is no time to improvise a clamping setup.
Remove the syringe cap. Press the plunger gently and dispense equal amounts of resin and hardener side by side onto a clean, disposable non-absorbent surface (card, plastic lid, glass offcut). If one barrel runs ahead of the other, purge a small amount until both flow evenly. Only dispense what you can use within 5 minutes.
Mix the two components for 20–30 seconds with a stick, spatula or nail until the colour and consistency are completely uniform, with no streaks. Scrape the sides and bottom of your mixing area — unmixed material at the edges will never cure and becomes a weak point in the joint.
Apply a thin, even coat to both mating surfaces using a spatula, stick or brush. Thin, complete coverage outperforms a thick blob. For gap-filling repairs, build up the mixed epoxy into the void and shape it before it gels.
Bring the parts together, press firmly and slide them slightly against each other to expel trapped air, then set to final position. Hold or clamp under firm pressure for at least 120 seconds. Keep light clamping, taping or support in place until handling strength is reached.
Remove excess squeeze-out while it is still wet with a cloth dampened in acetone or mineral spirit. Once cured, it must be removed mechanically by scraping or sanding. Wash hands with soap and water.
Do not disturb for at least 20 minutes. Handling strength: 20–30 minutes at 23 °C. Full working strength: 24 hours at 23 °C. Sanding, drilling, filing and painting should be done after 24 hours.
Replace the cap firmly, wipe the nozzles clean and store the syringe upright in a cool, dry place between +8 °C and +30 °C, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.
Below 15 °C the cure slows dramatically and final strength drops. On cool mornings, warm the syringe in your hands or in a bowl of warm (not hot) water for a few minutes before use.
In hot Nairobi afternoon sun, working time can drop well below 5 minutes. Mix smaller batches and work faster.
A large mixed mass generates its own exothermic heat and cures much faster than a thin spread of the same material.
Adding extra hardener does not make it stronger or faster — it makes it permanently soft and weak. Stick to 1:1.
Excessive clamping pressure starves the joint of adhesive. Firm and even beats hard and tight.
Epoxy is exceptionally strong in shear and compression but weak in peel and cleavage. Design the joint so load pushes along the bond line, not pulling it apart at an edge.

You have around 5 minutes of working time. The joint reaches handling strength in 20–30 minutes and full strength after 24 hours at 23 °C.
Yes. Once fully cured it is water resistant and also resists alkalis and dilute acids. It is suitable for outdoor and damp-area repairs, though it should not be used as a substitute for a structural pressurised-pipe repair.
Yes — it bonds steel, aluminium, brass and cast iron very well, provided the surfaces are degreased and abraded first. For heavy metal repair, rebuilding or leak sealing, the Akfix E350 Steel Epoxy & Quick Fix Putty is the stronger choice.
It bonds rigid plastics such as ABS, PVC, acrylic and polycarbonate. It will not bond polyethylene, polypropylene, nylon, PTFE or flexible plastics.
Yes. After a full 24-hour cure, the epoxy can be sanded smooth, primed and painted.
The cured adhesive performs across a service range of −25 °C to +100 °C.
