Akfix PA370 Fast Cure PU Wood Glue D4 500g is a one-component, moisture-curing polyurethane wood adhesive built for jobs where ordinary white PVA glue simply fails. Classified D4 to DIN EN 204 — the highest water-resistance grade in the European standard — this waterproof marine wood glue holds its bond through rain, humidity, steam and full immersion.
It bonds timber to timber, and timber to metal, concrete, stone, foam and most plastics, with a fast cure and a press time as short as 15–20 minutes. Available now in Kenya from Shabbiri Hardware, Ongata Rongai and Tuala, at a genuinely competitive price.
What each spec actually means once you are standing at the bench with the clamps out.
Highest waterproof classification available. Survives prolonged immersion and outdoor exposure.
Clamps off in roughly 15–20 minutes at room temperature. More throughput, fewer clamps tied up.
No hardener, no resin ratio, no pot life panic. Squeeze and spread.
Wood, MDF, chipboard, marine ply, metal, concrete, stone, ceramic, foam, most rigid plastics.
Moisture helps it cure. Ideal for Kenya’s coastal and highland humidity.
Cures to a clear / light amber line — no white smears on dark hardwoods like mahogany or mvule.
Expands slightly to fill small voids and imperfect joints.
Safer for enclosed workshops than solvent-based contact adhesives.
Cured glue takes tools, sandpaper and finish without clogging.
Holds up to weathering, dilute chemicals and normal service temperatures.
The 500g bottle’s red applicator tip lays a controlled bead — minimal waste.
Most wood glue sold in Kenya is PVA (white / yellow carpenter’s glue) — cheap, easy, and completely unsuitable for anything that gets wet. PVA is typically D2 or D3 rated. It softens in humidity, creeps under load, and lets go entirely when soaked.
It is a polyurethane (PUR) adhesive that cures by reacting with moisture — in the wood, in the air, or that you deliberately mist onto the surface.
As it cures it expands slightly into the pores of the timber and forms a rigid, cross-linked, genuinely waterproof bond that is often stronger than the wood fibres around it.
In practical Kenyan terms, that means:
One bottle, five very different kinds of job.
Boat hulls, decks, dhows, marine plywood, jetties, pontoons, docks, water tanks, sauna and steam-room joinery.
Doors, window frames, gates, pergolas, gazebos, decking, fencing, garden furniture, cladding, shutters.
Glulam and laminated beams, finger joints, roof trusses, staircases, timber frames, formwork.
Kitchen units, vanity units, bar counters, worktops, edge banding, veneer bonding, MDF and chipboard assembly.
Wood to metal, concrete, stone, rigid PVC, insulation foam and sandwich panels, raised access floors (with mechanical fixing).
