The Bovos Mortice Lock DBC 24L is part of the Bovos DBC range, one of the most popular door lock lines in Kenya. One box gives you everything needed to secure a door. The lock body sits inside the edge of the door (a mortice), which makes it stronger and neater than a surface-mounted rim lock.

How to Install the Bovos DBC 24L

Fitting is best done by an experienced fundi. We are supply-only, but we can share contacts of independent installers.

Step 1Mark the door. Hold the lock body against the door edge at handle height (about 1 m from the floor). Mark the body outline, spindle hole and cylinder hole on both faces.

Step 2Cut the mortice. Drill a line of holes down the centre of the door edge to the depth of the lock body, then clean it out with a chisel.

Step 3Rebate the faceplate. Chisel a shallow recess so the faceplate sits flush with the door edge.

Step 4Drill the holes. Drill the spindle and cylinder holes from each side towards the middle to avoid splitting the timber.

Step 5Set the latch. Make sure the curved side of the latch faces the direction the door closes. Reverse it if needed.

Step 6Fit the lock body. Slide it into the mortice and fix it with the faceplate screws.

Step 7Insert the cylinder. Push the cylinder through and lock it in with the long fixing screw.

Step 8Fit the handles. Push the spindle through, place the handles on both sides and tighten the backplate screws evenly.

Step 9Fit the strike plate. Mark where the latch and bolt meet the frame, cut the pockets and screw on the strike plate.

Step 10Test it. Check the handle springs back, the latch clicks into the frame and the key locks and unlocks smoothly.

Using the lock

Cleaning
