Product overview

A dependable impact drill for Kenyan construction work

The Deli DL-CZ13-E5 impact drill is built for the jobs that come up every day on Nairobi building sites and homes: fixing curtain rails and shelves into stone walls, anchoring gate hinges, running electrical conduit, fitting gypsum and PVC ceiling frames, and drilling holes for plumbing and wall plugs.

Its 650W pure copper motor runs cooler and lasts longer than aluminium-wound motors at the same rating. The hammer action delivers up to 48,000 blows per minute, so masonry bits cut cleanly through concrete, machine-cut stone, brick and block. Switch the mode selector off hammer and it works as a standard electric drill machine for wood, metal sheet, steel and plastic.

The variable-speed trigger lets you start a hole slowly and accurately, then build to full speed. A lock-on button keeps the drill running for long runs of holes, the reverse switch frees jammed bits and backs out screws, and the 360° side handle with depth gauge gives control and repeatable hole depth for anchors and wall plugs.

Features

What makes it work well

Pure copper 650W motor

Steady torque under load and better heat resistance for long working days.

Drill and hammer modes

One selector on top of the housing switches between rotary drilling and impact drilling.

13mm metal keyed chuck

Grips round and hex shank bits firmly and holds up better than plastic keyless chucks.

Variable speed trigger

Squeeze lightly for slow starts on tiles and metal, press fully for fast drilling in masonry.

Forward / reverse

Back out a stuck bit or remove screws without forcing the tool.

Lock-on switch

Keeps the motor running for repeated holes without holding the trigger.

360° auxiliary handle

Two-handed grip for left or right hand users that reduces kickback.

Depth gauge rod

Set hole depth once and drill every anchor hole to the same depth.

Ventilated housing

Large cooling slots on both sides help protect the motor during heavy use.

Choose the right mode

Which mode and bit for which material

Concrete, stone, brick

MODE: HAMMER · BIT: masonry (carbide tip)

Medium to high speed, firm steady pressure.

Steel and metal sheet

MODE: DRILL · BIT: HSS metal bit

Low speed. Centre-punch first and add cutting oil on thick steel.

Wood, MDF, boards

MODE: DRILL · BIT: wood / spade bit

High speed. Ease off as the bit breaks through to avoid splintering.

Ceramic and porcelain tile

MODE: DRILL (never hammer) · BIT: tile bit

Very low speed, light pressure, keep the tip cool with water.

PVC, WPC panels, plastic

MODE: DRILL · BIT: HSS or wood bit

Medium speed so the plastic does not melt around the hole.

How to use

How to use the Deli 650W impact drill

  1. Check the tool and power supply

Confirm your socket supplies 220–240V. Inspect the cable and plug for damage. Make sure the trigger is off and the lock-on button is released before plugging in.

  2. Fit the side handle and depth gauge

Slide the auxiliary handle over the chuck collar, turn it to a comfortable angle and tighten. Insert the depth rod and set it to the depth you need, for example the wall plug length plus 5mm.

  3. Insert the drill bit

Open the chuck jaws, push the bit in fully, close the jaws, then tighten with the chuck key in all three key holes so the bit is gripped evenly. Remove the key before starting.

  4. Select mode and direction

Set the selector on top to the hammer symbol for concrete and masonry, or the drill symbol for wood, metal, plastic and tiles. Set the direction switch to forward.

  5. Mark and start the hole

Mark the spot with a pencil. On tiles or smooth surfaces put masking tape over the mark. Hold the drill with both hands, keep it square to the surface and start slowly.

  6. Drill at the right speed

Once the bit bites, increase speed. Let the hammer action do the work and apply steady pressure only. Pull the bit back every few centimetres to clear dust from deep holes.

  7. Use lock-on for repeated holes

For long runs of holes, press the lock-on button while holding the trigger. Squeeze and release the trigger to switch off.

  8. Reverse to free a stuck bit

Release the trigger, wait for the motor to stop, switch to reverse and run slowly to back the bit out.

  9. Finish and clean up

Unplug before changing bits. Let hot bits cool. Blow dust out of the vents, wipe the housing with a dry cloth and store the drill and chuck key in a dry place.

Safety tips

  • Wear safety glasses, and a dust mask when drilling concrete or stone.
  • Use ear protection for long hammer-drilling sessions.
  • Check walls for hidden electrical cables and water pipes before drilling.
  • Always hold the drill with both hands using the side handle in hammer mode.
  • Never change mode or direction while the motor is running.
  • Do not use the drill in wet conditions, and keep the cable away from the bit.
  • Keep loose clothing, jewellery and long hair away from the chuck.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can the Deli 650W impact drill drill into concrete?

Yes. Switch to hammer mode and use a carbide-tipped masonry bit up to 13mm for concrete, brick and block.

What chuck size does the Deli DL-CZ13-E5 have?

A 13mm metal keyed chuck that holds bits from about 1.5mm to 13mm shank diameter.

Can I use it as a screwdriver?

Yes, in drill mode at low speed, with reverse for removing screws. For heavy repeated screw driving a dedicated drill driver is better.

What is the difference between an impact drill and a rotary hammer?

An impact drill uses a light hammer mechanism for holes up to about 13mm in masonry. A rotary hammer (SDS) uses a heavier piston action for larger holes and chiselling. For everyday fixing jobs the impact drill is lighter and easier to handle.

Do you sell drill bits and wall plugs?

Yes. Both branches stock masonry, metal, wood and tile bits, wall plugs, anchors and screws to go with your drill.
