How to Install the GJS 8588-K10 Door Lock

Mark the door. Measure the lock height (usually about 1 m from the floor) on the door edge and face. Hold the backplate against the door and mark the spindle hole and cylinder hole positions.
Cut the mortise pocket. On the door edge, chisel or rout a pocket deep and wide enough for the lock body. Recess the faceplate so it sits flush with the door edge.
Drill the spindle and cylinder holes. Drill through the door face at your marks, drilling from both sides to avoid splitting the wood.
Fit the lock body. Slide the lock body into the pocket. Check the latch faces the closing direction – reverse it if needed – then fix with the faceplate screws.
Insert the cylinder. Push the cylinder through the lock body and secure it with the long cylinder fixing screw through the faceplate.
Mount the handles. Insert the spindle, place the lever handles and backplates on both sides and tighten the through-bolts or screws evenly.
Fit the strike plate. Close the door, mark where the latch and bolt meet the frame, chisel the recesses and screw the strike plate in place.
Test the lock. Operate the levers and turn the key several times. The latch and deadbolt should move smoothly with no rubbing.
