How to Install the GJS JS8588-K10 AB
For the best result and full security, we recommend installation by a qualified fundi or carpenter. Shabbiri Hardware is supply-only, but we are happy to share contacts of independent installers.
- Check the door. Confirm the door thickness and, if replacing a lock, measure the existing cut-out and backset so the new lock fits properly.
- Mark the position. Use the template or the lock body to mark the lock and cylinder position at a comfortable height (commonly about 1 metre from the floor).
- Cut the recess. Drill and chisel the mortise/recess and the cylinder hole cleanly to the marked size – avoid over-cutting, which weakens the door.
- Fit the lock body and cylinder. Insert the lock, align the cylinder, and tighten the fixing screws firmly but without over-torquing.
- Fit the strike plate. Mark where the bolt meets the door frame, cut the strike recess and screw the strike plate in place.
- Test before closing. With the door open, turn the key both ways several times. Then close the door and test again to confirm smooth, positive locking.
