How to Use – Step by Step
Curing Concrete
- Cut strips to cover the slab with 100–150 mm overlaps.
- Wait until the surface won't mark when touched.
- Soak the hessian in clean water and lay it flat.
- Wrap columns and beams; tie with wire or twine.
- Keep it wet – spray 2–3 times daily, more in hot weather.
- Cure for at least 7 days (10–14 for blended cements).
Gypsum / Fibrous Plaster
- Cut hessian slightly smaller than the mould or joint.
- Pour a thin first coat of gypsum plaster.
- Dip hessian in slurry and press into the wet coat.
- Add a second coat to fully embed the fibres.
- Let it set, demould and fix as normal.
Tree & Seedling Wrapping
- Cut squares big enough to wrap the root ball.
- Gather the corners and tie with jute twine.
- Keep the root ball moist until planting.
- Plant with the hessian on – loosen ties at the neck.
Erosion Control on Slopes
- Grade the slope and clear stones and roots.
- Spread seed and fertiliser first.
- Roll hessian downhill, overlapping edges 100 mm.
- Pin every 0.5–1 m with U-pins or pegs.
- Water gently – grass grows through the weave.
