Kenyos Cylinder Lock DAJ-15B – Euro-Profile Door Lock Cylinder in Nairobi, Kenya
A solid brass door lock cylinder with a precision pin-tumbler mechanism and a full set of keys. Use it to replace a worn or lost-key cylinder, re-secure a new house, or upgrade the lock on wooden, steel and aluminium doors. In stock at Shabbiri Hardware, Magadi Road – Ongata Rongai and Tuala.
Product Overview
The Kenyos Cylinder Lock DAJ-15B is a replaceable euro-profile lock cylinder (also called a lock barrel) that slots into a mortice lock body and is held by a single fixing screw through the edge of the door. The cylinder is the part your key turns. When you change it, every old key stops working, without replacing the whole lock or the door handles.
Kenyos builds the DAJ-15B around a brass body and brass pin-tumbler mechanism. Brass does not rust, turns smoothly for years and holds up to Nairobi's dust and the rainy seasons. Its finish complements most door handles and lever sets. It is a good choice for homeowners, landlords, property managers, contractors and fundis around Ongata Rongai, Kajiado, Karen, Langata and greater Nairobi.

How to Measure for the Right Cylinder
Euro cylinders are sized by two measurements taken from the centre of the fixing-screw hole: one to the outside end (A) and one to the inside end (B). The cylinder should sit flush with the handle or escutcheon. It should stick out no more than about 3 mm, because a cylinder that protrudes can be snapped or gripped.
Tip: Take the old cylinder out first (steps 1–4 below) and measure it on a table. That gives the most accurate reading.
How to Install the Kenyos DAJ-15B Cylinder Lock
- Open the door and unlock it. Work with the door open so you cannot lock yourself out.
- Find the fixing screw. On the edge of the door, in the lock faceplate, directly in line with the keyhole, there is one long screw. Remove it with a screwdriver.
- Align the cam. Insert your old key and turn it about 10–15° left or right until the cam (the small lever in the middle of the cylinder) sits flush inside the cylinder body.
- Slide the old cylinder out. With the key held in that position, pull the cylinder out gently by the key. Do not force it. Wiggle the key slightly until the cam lines up.
- Measure and compare. Check that the DAJ-15B matches the old cylinder's A and B measurements.
- Insert the new cylinder. Put a new Kenyos key in, align the cam flush with the body, and slide the DAJ-15B into the lock case from the outside.
- Refit the fixing screw. Line up the screw hole and tighten the fixing screw firmly, but do not overtighten.
- Test before closing. With the door open, lock and unlock several times from both sides and check the latch and bolt move freely. Then close the door and test again.
Daily Use
- Push the key fully into the keyway before turning.
- Turn gently. If the key feels stiff, lift or push the door slightly to take pressure off the bolt.
- Use the right key only. Forcing the wrong key damages the pins.
- Keep spare keys in a safe place away from the door.
- Hand spares only to people you trust, and ask for them back.
Care & Maintenance
- Lubricate every 3–6 months with graphite powder or a PTFE dry lock spray.
- Avoid oil or grease inside the keyway, because it attracts dust and jams pins.
- Wipe the face with a dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners on the brass.
- Blow out dust after construction or painting work nearby.
- Replace a bent or cracked key before it snaps inside the lock.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the Kenyos DAJ-15B cylinder fit my existing door lock?
It fits mortice locks that take a standard euro-profile cylinder. Remove your old cylinder and measure from the centre of the fixing-screw hole to each end. If both measurements match the DAJ-15B, it will fit. Bring the old cylinder to our Ongata Rongai or Tuala branch and we will match it for you.
Do I need to replace the whole lock to change the keys?
No. On a euro-profile mortice lock you only replace the cylinder. It takes a screwdriver and about 10 minutes, and all old keys stop working immediately.
Can the Kenyos DAJ-15B be used on metal and aluminium doors?
Yes. It can be used on wooden, steel and aluminium doors as long as the mortice lock body accepts a euro-profile cylinder and the cylinder length matches the door thickness.
