Where to Use It
How to Use the Oriv Shield 702
Unlocking & locking
- Unpack and test all 4 keys. Remove the key ring from the blister pack and try each key in the cylinder before installing. Keep one key somewhere safe.
- Open the padlock. Push the vane key fully into the keyway at the bottom of the body and turn gently. The shackle springs up.
- Remove the key by turning it back to the start position, so it isn't left in the lock.
- Fit the shackle through the hasp, staple, latch loop or chain link. A snug fit is harder to lever or cut.
- Lock it. Press the shackle firmly into the body until it clicks, then pull on it to confirm it's locked.
Care & maintenance
Do
- Hang the lock keyhole-down to keep out rain and dust.
- Add graphite powder or light spray lubricant to the keyway every 3–6 months.
- Wipe the body and shackle after heavy rain or dust.
- Use a strong hasp or chain – a lock is only as secure as what it's fixed to.
- Label and store spare keys safely.
Don't
- Force a stiff key – lubricate first.
- Use thick grease or oil in the keyway; it traps dust.
- Hammer the lock to open or close it.
- Leave keys hanging in the lock.
- Use a loose, oversized hasp that's easy to lever.
