How to install the WISTA cylinder door lock

For best results, have a qualified fundi or carpenter fit the lock. Shabbiri Hardware is supply-only, but we can share contacts of independent installers near Rongai and Tuala. A typical installation looks like this:

Check the door. Make sure the door is square, closes properly and is thick enough for the lock case. Choose the handing (left or right opening).
Mark the position. Use the template or the lock body to mark the lock-case pocket on the door edge and the cylinder and handle holes on both faces, usually about 1 metre from the floor.
Cut the pocket. On wooden doors, chisel or router a neat mortise for the lock case. On metal doors, make sure the frame already has a lock box or cut-out.
Drill the holes. Drill the cylinder and spindle holes through the door, working from both sides so the timber does not split.
Fit the lock body. Slide the lock case into the pocket and fix the faceplate flush with the door edge using the screws supplied.
Insert the cylinder and handles. Fit the cylinder and secure it with its fixing screw, then mount the handles or trim and tighten them evenly.
Fit the strike plate. Mark where the latch and bolt meet the frame, cut the recess, and screw the strike plate in place.
Test it. With the door open, turn the key and handle several times, then close the door and test again. Adjust the strike plate if the latch catches.
