Where to Use the WISTA 20606 Lock
How to Install the WISTA 20606 Cylinder Door Lock
You will need a tape measure, pencil, drill with wood/metal bits, a chisel (for wooden doors), a screwdriver, and the template supplied in the box.
- Mark the height. Choose the handle height, usually about 1,000–1,050 mm from the floor. Mark a horizontal line across the door edge and both faces.
- Use the template. Fold the paper template over the door edge and mark the positions of the spindle hole and the cylinder hole on both faces of the door.
- Cut the mortice pocket. On the door edge, drill and chisel a rectangular pocket deep and wide enough for the lock body. On metal doors, use a door with a ready-made lock pocket or have a fabricator cut it.
- Drill the face holes. Drill the spindle hole and cut the euro-cylinder hole through the door at the marked points, working from both sides to avoid splitting the timber.
- Recess the forend. Insert the lock body and trace around the faceplate. Chisel a shallow recess so the forend sits flush with the door edge, then fix it with the screws.
- Check the latch direction. The curved face of the latch must face the direction the door closes. Reverse it now if needed.
- Fit the cylinder. Slide the cylinder in with the cam at 6 o'clock and tighten the long fixing screw through the forend into the cylinder.
- Fit the handles. Push the spindle through the lock body, place the lever plates on both sides, and fix them with the through-bolts. Make sure the levers point towards the lock side, not the hinge side.
- Install the strike plate. Close the door, mark where the latch and bolt meet the frame, cut the recesses, and screw the strike plate in place.
- Test. Operate the levers and lock and unlock with every key several times before handing over the keys.
