🛠️ How to Use Sika MonoTop-4012 (Step by Step)
- Prepare the substrate. Remove all loose, weak and delaminated concrete. Cut repair areas into square/rectangular shapes to avoid cracking.
- Clean steel reinforcement. Remove all rust and scale to bright steel. For extra protection, coat rebar with Sika MonoTop-1010 or SikaTop Armatec-110 EpoCem.
- Pre-wet the substrate with clean water for a minimum of 2 hours. Surface should look dark matt with no standing water — sponge away excess.
- Mix. Add powder gradually to measured water, mixing slowly for at least 3 minutes until lump-free. Never exceed the maximum water.
- Apply a scratch coat — work a thin layer firmly into the surface to fill pores (no separate primer needed on well-prepared surfaces).
- Build up wet-on-wet by trowel or spray within layer limits, compacting well. Do not feather-edge.
- Finish with a steel, PVC or wooden float once stiffened. Do not add water while finishing.
- Cure immediately — wet hessian, polythene sheet or curing compound. Protect from sun, wind and rain. Avoid application in direct sun or strong wind.
- Clean tools with water immediately — hardened mortar can only be removed mechanically.
