HM-025 Light Gauge PVC Wall & Ceiling Panel – Golden Oak Wood Grain

Give your ceilings and walls the warm look of natural timber without the cost, termites or moisture problems. The HM-025 light gauge PVC panel carries a realistic golden oak wood grain with a fine centre groove line, and locks together with a simple tongue-and-groove joint. Available now at Shabbiri Hardware, Magadi Road – Ongata Rongai and Tuala, Nairobi.

Product Overview

The HM-025 Light Gauge PVC Panel is a lightweight, hollow-core PVC profile designed for PVC ceilings and interior wall cladding in homes, rentals, shops, offices, schools and churches across Kenya. Its laminated wood grain surface gives a rich honey-oak tone that pairs beautifully with white, cream and grey walls, while the centre groove line creates the look of narrow timber strips once installed.

Because it is made from rigid PVC, HM-025 does not absorb water, rot, swell or attract termites — the common problems with timber and gypsum ceilings in Nairobi's rainy seasons. The light gauge build keeps it easy to carry, quick to cut and economical to install over large areas such as Rongai, Kitengela and Kajiado residential projects.

How to Install HM-025 PVC Panels

  1. Measure & plan: Measure the room length and width, multiply to get the area in m², then divide by 1.49 to get the number of panels. Add 5 – 10% extra for cuts and wastage.
  2. Fix the brandering: Install treated timber (e.g. 2"×1") or galvanised metal furring channels at 400 – 500 mm centres for ceilings, running at right angles to the direction the panels will lie. For walls, use battens at 400 – 600 mm centres. Make sure the frame is level.
  3. Install perimeter trims: Fix PVC L-angle or U-channel around the edges of the ceiling or wall to hold panel ends neatly.
  4. Cut panels to length: Cut each panel about 5 mm shorter than the measured distance to allow for expansion. Use a fine-tooth hand saw, hacksaw or sharp utility knife (score and snap).
  5. Fit the first panel: Slide the first panel into the starting trim with the groove side facing the wall. Check it is straight — this panel sets the line for the whole ceiling.
  6. Fix through the tongue: Nail, staple or screw through the tongue into each brandering line so fixings are hidden by the next panel.
  7. Interlock the next panels: Push the groove of each new panel firmly onto the tongue of the previous one and fix as before. Keep the centre groove lines running in the same direction.
  8. Finish the last panel: Cut the final panel lengthwise to width, slide it into the end trim and secure. Add cornices or corner trims for a clean finish.
  9. Fittings & cleaning: Cut openings for lights with a hole saw or knife, then wipe the whole surface with a damp cloth to remove dust and handling marks.
Pro tip: Light gauge panels give the flattest result when brandering is kept close (about 400 mm). Store panels flat and indoors before installation, and avoid placing hot halogen bulbs directly against the PVC — use LED panel lights instead.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can HM-025 PVC panels be used in bathrooms and kitchens?

Yes. PVC does not absorb water, so HM-025 suits bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms and covered verandahs. Leave a small expansion gap at the walls and seal trims near showers.

What does "light gauge" mean on a PVC panel?

Light gauge panels have thinner walls and weigh less per piece than heavy gauge panels. They are ideal for ceilings and low-impact interior walls where an economical, lightweight finish is needed.

How far apart should the brandering be?

For ceilings, fix brandering at 400 – 500 mm centres. For walls, battens at 400 – 600 mm centres are sufficient. Closer spacing gives a flatter, firmer finish.

How many panels do I need for a 3 m × 4 m room?

The room is 12 m². Divide by 1.49 m² per panel = about 8.1, so order 9 panels, plus trims and cornices for the perimeter.

Does Shabbiri Hardware install PVC ceilings?

We are supply-only, but we can connect you with experienced independent installers.
