How to Install the HM-001 PVC Ceiling
- Measure the room. Multiply length × width to get the ceiling area in m². Divide by the coverage of one panel (about 1.49 m²) and add 10% for cutting and wastage. Also measure the room perimeter for edge trim / cornice.
- Fix the brandering. Fix timber battens (e.g. 2"×1" treated timber) or galvanised metal channels across the roof trusses or joists at 400–600 mm centres. Use a spirit level or laser so the frame is flat and level – the panels follow the frame.
- Run the wiring first. Have your electrician route cables and mark positions for bulbs, downlights and ceiling fans before panels go up.
- Install the edge trim. Fix the PVC L-angle or cornice around the full perimeter of the room, level with the underside of the brandering.
- Cut the first panel. Measure wall-to-wall and subtract about 5–10 mm for expansion. Cut with a fine-tooth hacksaw, jigsaw or sharp utility knife (score and snap).
- Fit the first panel. Slide the groove side into the edge trim along the starting wall, then nail, staple or screw through the fixing flange into every batten.
- Interlock the next panels. Push the tongue of each new panel fully into the groove of the previous one until it clicks tight, keeping the diamond pattern aligned, then fix through the flange. Repeat across the room.
- Cut openings for lights. Mark and cut holes for bulbs, downlights or fan rods with a hole saw or knife before fixing that panel.
- Fit the last panel. Cut the final strip to width and slide it into the edge trim on the opposite wall. Finish corners with matching trim.
- Clean up. Peel off any protective film and wipe the ceiling with a damp cloth.
