Ultra heavy duty black waterproof shade net that stops sun and rain. A UV-stabilised HDPE knitted base is laminated with a solid polyethylene film, giving you a 100% opaque, fully rainproof sheet at 400 grams per square metre. One roll covers 150 square metres — the standard choice in Kenya for car park shades, carports, canopies, walkways, market stalls, poultry houses and boundary privacy screens. In stock at both Shabbiri Hardware branches on Magadi Road.
A normal 70% or 90% agricultural shade net is a knitted mesh — light passes through it and so does water. This product is a different class of material: the same tough HDPE knit, but sealed with a continuous PE film so it behaves like a lightweight tarpaulin that still breathes at the edges and does not drum in the wind.
The laminated film has no perforations, so rainwater runs off instead of dripping through. Vehicles, stock and customers stay dry.
Total blackout of direct sunlight. Protects car paintwork, dashboards, stored cement, timber and packaged goods from UV degradation.
Heavier yarn and a denser knit resist hail, wind flap and eyelet pull-through far better than 200–280GSM grades.
Black absorbs and re-radiates upward while the knitted underside limits heat transfer, so the space below stays notably cooler than under bare iron sheets.
Zero visibility through the sheet. Ideal for boundary walls, construction hoarding, site perimeters and pool or compound screening.
A 150m² roll shades a large car park for a fraction of the cost of mabati and steel purlins, and it can be taken down and re-used.

One roll, many jobs. These are the applications our customers in Rongai, Tuala, Kiserian, Ngong, Karen, Kitengela and across Nairobi buy it for.
A waterproof shade net lives or dies by two things: tension and fall. Get those right and it will outlast the frame. Follow this sequence.
Measure the area, then plan your panels in 3m widths running down the slope. Add 150–200mm on every edge for hemming and wrapping. For a 6m x 10m car park you need two 3m widths x 10.4m — about 21m off the roll.
Use 50x50mm box section, timber, or galvanised pipe. Set purlins at 1.0–1.5m centres and give the roof a minimum fall of 15° (about 1 in 4). Flat installations pond water, stretch the sheet and eventually fail.
Grind off weld spatter, cap sharp bolt ends and sand rough timber. Anything sharp will cut the film under wind movement. Wrap high-friction points with rubber or old hose pipe.
Unroll on a clean, dry surface. Mark with chalk and cut with a hot knife or soldering iron so the cut edge seals itself. A cold blade cut must be hemmed or taped, otherwise the knit will run.
Fold a 50mm double hem, stitch with UV-resistant polyester thread (or heat-weld), and punch 12mm eyelets at 400–500mm centres. Reinforce every corner with a second layer of fabric before punching.
Where two panels meet, overlap by 100–150mm with the upper panel over the lower, following the direction of water flow. Double-stitch or hot-air weld. Never butt-join a waterproof sheet.
Fix the two centre eyelets on each side first, then work outward alternately left and right. Use 6mm UV rope, turnbuckles, or shade sail tensioners. The sheet should be drum-tight with no ripples or slack pockets.
Fit a rubber or EPDM washer under every bolt or screw head that passes through the sheet. Eyelets on the roof plane are the only places water can enter, so treat each one as a roof penetration.
Because the sheet is fully sealed, leave a 100–200mm open gap at the ridge or at the eaves. This releases hot air, stops condensation dripping underneath, and lets wind pressure escape instead of lifting the roof.
All polyethylene fabric relaxes slightly after its first sun and rain cycles. Go back after 10–14 days and take up the slack. Then check tension once every dry season.
Wash with plain water and mild soap using a soft brush. Never use a pressure washer at close range, thinner, petrol, or bleach — these attack the film lamination.
Patch cuts or punctures immediately with a PE repair patch or hot-air weld a scrap offcut over the hole with 50mm all round. A 20mm tear left through one windy week becomes a two-metre split.
